MPEG 2. Practice putting your pic in between your thumb and the side of your index finger on your right hand with the end pointing out. 3. Practice striking the strings with an up and down stroke. Start on the low E string. Slightly pull in your thumb so that the edge of the pic strikes the string and not the flat side. 4. Practice counting 1 - 2 - 3 - 4. Down stroke on 1 and 3. Up stroke on 2 and 4. 5. Repeat this on each of the 6 strings Go slow and steady. Make sure each string sounds full and clear. 6. As you pick the strings, repeat out loud the name of the string that you are picking. 7. Practice 20 minutes each day. Log this time into your practice log. 8. Go to the next lesson |

Practice: | Watch the videos a few times. Use the correct fingerings as shown in the images below. Practice strumming up and down with your pic. Attempt to get clear, full sounds from each string. Make sure your fingers only touch the strings that they are supposed to. If your strings are "muffled sounding" then you are not pressing down hard enough or your fingers are touching the strings next to them. Practice picking each string separately, up and down, slowly at first, then gradually building speed. | |||
